Default Official 2012 RTP Dead Pool

2011 had a lot of big name deaths. Andy Rooney, Osama, Steve Jobs, Gaddafi, Heavy D, Kim Jong-Il, Bubba Smith, just to name a few. Who is going out in 2012?

With that in mind, I propose a 2012 RTP Dead Pool. As it is already 2012, I think we should limit the date range of acceptable deaths to 2/1/2012 and 12/31/2012. If the Mayan prophecy is correct and the world ends on 12/21/2012, the match is a push.

The Rules:

Each player may pick 10 celebrities. Each correctly predicted death results in a score of (120 - n)/10, where n is the age of the deceased at the time of death. So, for instance, if you pick Besse Cooper and she dies on 11/11/2012, you will receive (120 - 116)/10 = 0.40 points. If you pick Michael Vick and he dies on 5/12/2012, you will receive (120 - 25)/10 = 9.5 points.

All entries must be submitted by 1/7/2012 by 11:59 PST. I appoint Jon in Oakland to be the final arbiter on whether a selected person is famous.

I'm in as well, but it will definitely take some work. Still on tilt because I got shutout in 2010 and the guy at the bar drunkenly spent the money so I did not re-submit my list for 2011. I believe 6 of my 12 picks died in 2011, so I would have been an easy winner.

FWIW, I think I prefer 100-n, rather than 120-n. I believe the 100-n is the industry standard.

TIMEOUT!

I believe the answers should be submitted to a neutral source and later posted in the thread (after 2/1). Maybe JonInOakland or ComptrBob if either are willing. Ideally it should be someone who is not partaking in the contest. If we all just post here, people will steal each other's ideas.

The other dead pool I did also required one person below 20 years of age, one below 30, and one other below 40. I'm kind of indifferent on this rule, but throwing it out there as an idea.

Another obvious rule is the person has to be reasonably well-known and can't be anyone any of us know personally (no Fezzik for example).

And yes, I think Subdivisions should edit/delete his previous post ASAP. I promise I didn't analyze it or memorize it.

But 100-n doesn't account for centenarians. 120 covers us for the entire human race this year. So, let's stick with 120.
