Default Useful Links.

I'm going to periodically post links of (news) websites which people may find valuable/interesting that they may not be aware of.

https://www.rt.com/

"RT, originally Russia Today, is a television network funded by the Russian government."
- wiki

MSM (Main Stream Media) - network news, CNN, MSNBC, Fox, etc. - are USA Government propagandists, uncritically reading USA Gov. "news" stories.

Rt.com has interesting shows with better info, in English.

They also have a tab for their excellent Documentary channel.

There is a red "LIVE" button at the top to get their news channels.

I use the "Low" setting for bandwidth, as it periodically pauses and buffers when I use "Hi" or "Medium".
You may have faster internet than I do and "Hi" may work fine.

There are 4 channel tabs for "RT News", "RT USA", RT UK", and "RT Documentary".

The website also has lots of print news.

"RT’s flagship, award-winning English-language channel airs 24/7 from the network’s Moscow offices and is available to more than 700 million viewers worldwide. It covers the most urgent domestic and international issues of our time for viewers wishing to question more and delivers stories often missed by the mainstream media to create news with an edge. RT provides an alternative perspective on major global events, and acquaints an international audience with the Russian viewpoint."

Another recommended news broadcast site:

Aljazeera English.

"Al Jazeera English (AJE) is an international state-funded 24-hour English-language news and current affairs TV channel owned and operated by Al Jazeera Media Network, which is headquartered in Doha, Qatar.

"Instead of being run under one central command, news management rotates between broadcasting centers in Doha and London."

"The network's stated objective is 'to give voice to untold stories, promote debate, and challenge established perceptions.' "

They also air fascinating documentaries, such as this one:

"The flying men of Yungas Valley"

"Bolivia's coca farmers make a living criss-crossing deep valleys on a web of makeshift cables high above forest canopy."

"In Bolivia's jungles and steep cliffs the Yungas people do not walk. They fly on ropes like birds - faster than astronauts.

These 'birds' are known as cocaleros, or coca harvesters. They use ropes to swing across the narrow valleys, suspended from ancient rusting pulleys.

It takes all of 30 seconds from one side to the other. By foot it would take more than an hour."

NOTE - It may be necessary to disable Adblock Plus for the page below to view the video:

There's been a periodic problem with the 3rd party link I'd posted for Al Jazeera English.

I've deleted that and posted a different link direct to their website with their live video feed - it works fine with no problems with the site.

The link:

Here's a good example of why rt.com (Russia Today) will give a perspective which the USA's msm will not (this occurred yesterday):

"[USA ] State department loses it when [rt] journalist asks reasonable question

What an embarrassing administration."

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=676_1...543&comments=1

" Wow....it's up to YOU to prove your own innocence. This administration has absolutely no regard for the Constitution or human rights. WE make accusations without evidence, YOU prove we're lying. Holy shit."

This is absolutely ridiculous. A US official CANNOT tell a reporter what to ask.

[USA has freedom of the press - as long as one asks non-embarrassing questions. Don't ask for facts].

"State Dept dismisses question from RT, says won’t treat it like other media"

[The RT reporter crossed the line of "acceptable" discussion].

Democracy Now! ‏Verified account @democracynow

Democracy Now! is a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program hosted by journalists Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez. Pioneering the largest public media collaboration in the U.S., Democracy Now! is broadcast on Pacifica, NPR, community, and college radio stations; on public access, PBS, satellite television (DISH network: Free Speech TV ch. 9415 and Link TV ch. 9410; DIRECTV: Free Speech TV ch. 348 and Link TV ch. 375); and on the internet. DN!’s podcast is one of the most popular on the web.

[The cluttered website annoyingly fails to mention the days and hours that the show is on live, and fails to respond to an inquiry, but it appears that it is on Monday to Friday, live at 8-9AM ET. After that it is archived, with transcripts and video available at https://www.democracynow.org/].
